Since the 1950s, ZRC® has been among the very few watchmakers to have developed and continuously refined a unique expertise in the study of stress linked to programmed material deformation. This mastery, perfected over more than seven decades, now stands as the brand’s exclusive technological signature.

This distinctive approach also finds its origin in the thinking of its CEO, Georges Brunet. Following his time in the Navy, he observed during an exercise in the Red Sea alongside the nuclear submarine La Perle the functioning of sealing systems used in atomic submarine airlocks. This experience shaped a radically different vision of watch water-resistance, based on the logic of balanced pressures and controlled volumes.

Beyond depth performance, it is the quality of machining and the micron-level precision of assembly that fundamentally distinguish this approach from traditional watchmaking. Where conventional systems rely on the mechanical compression of a caseback gasket through rotation, ZRC® adopts an inverse and evolving principle: pressure applied in proportion to the ambient pressure.

Within this unique logic, the higher the external pressure, the greater the sealing efficiency becomes, turning constraint into a safety factor.

This exclusive technology enables the creation of watches water-resistant to extreme depths — up to 5,100 meters for titanium versions and 1,000 meters for steel versions — without the use of a helium escape valve or gel-filled cases. A radically different approach, unique to ZRC®, based on a controlled structural architecture rather than compensation systems.

It also allows for optimized case volumes by reducing thickness, resulting in significantly improved wearing comfort, without compromising performance.

It is based on a deep understanding of material behavior under extreme pressure and thermal variation, where sapphire crystal, steel, titanium, and ceramic all respond differently to stress.

The result of more than 70 years of continuous research, this expertise grants ZRC® a singular position in the watchmaking world: a manufacture capable of delivering watches that are at once reliable, pure in design, and mechanically outstanding in efficiency, where apparent simplicity conceals a truly unique technical complexity.
